This study group was in charge of research regarding international jurisdiction on maritime issues, in correspondence with the law reform project on international jurisdiction of the Japanese Government.

This subcommittee is in charge of research regarding judicial sale of ships.
Subcommittee on Procedural Rules Regarding Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims
This subcommittee is in charge of research regarding international unification of procedural rules for the limitation of shipowners' liability under the Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims.
Subcommittee on the Revision of the Commercial Code (Transportation Law and Maritime Law)
This subcommittee was in charge of submitting JMLA’s opinion on the revision of the Commercial Code regarding transportation law and maritime law, which was later enacted in 2018.
Salvage Subcommittee
This subcommittee is in charge of research regarding international rules on salvage.
Committee on Ship Financing
This committee has been established to research legal rules for ship financing in collaboration with the CMI’s International Working Group on Ship Financing and Security Practice.
Transportation Law Subcommittee
This subcommittee is in charge of research regarding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly by Sea (Rotterdam Rules).
Committee on Unmanned Ship / Autonomous Ship
This committee has been established to research desirable legal rules for unmanned ships and autonomous ships in collaboration with the CMI’s International Working Group on Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships.
